Episode 22: Killing the Noise

Despite the fact that we were both sick – me with bronchitis and Ophelie going through withdrawals from not raiding for over a month – we managed to pull it together long enough to record another informative episode of the Double O Podcast!

With us is Valen, GM of <Temerity>, who came on to discuss guild drama or more specifically, why drama happens and what a guild can do to prevent it.  We also discuss the meaning of “drama,” the types of conflicts that are healthy for a guild, and how those in charge can sometimes even perpetuate the “noise.”

Temerity is recruiting!  If you’re interested in running with Valen or his peers, feel free to visit their website and see if they might be a good fit for you.

Episode 21: Preparation O

This podcast took a month of research to prepare.

After all, in order to share our adventures in Pandaria, we actually had to spend some time immersed in Azeroth’s newly discovered continent. And after 4 weeks (at the time of recording) of collecting wolf pelts, making arts and crafts, reading quest text, and killing 12 Mogu, we were finally ready to share our thoughts with the world.

Tune in to enjoy our appreciation of leveling in Mists, the never-ending dailies story, and the choices we had to make in order to fit a more demanding expansion into our lives.

PS by Ophelie: Before I get skinned alive for this (mainly by my guild, ha!) I say at one point that I don’t need any gear from Valor points. That’s an incorrect statement. I tried cutting out that part of the conversation, but it would have totally derailed the show. In case anyone cares, the gloves and chest are currently minor upgrades.

Episode 20: Parting the Mists

Did you miss us?

Ophelie and I are back with an all new pre-Mists of Pandaria episode of the Double O Podcast!  With us we have Serrath, who wrote an incredibly informative post over at Cannot Be Tamed, talking about all the ways that you can properly prepare for the inevitable leveling grind that comes with each new expansion.

We start off by talking about how we spent our summer vacations, then move on to discussing sleep patterns, and whether pulling an all nighter is really the best thing for you.  Next, we cover the important role that nutrition can play in things and how to make sure you stay in top physical and mental form during the potentially exhausting leveling process.

Lastly, we dish about how to let your loved ones know what you will be up to and what are some reasonable expectations that you and your guild should set for yourselves going into Mists of Pandaria.

Our guilds are recruiting!

Episode 12: Chicken Soup For The Casual Raid Leader’s Soul

And we’re back with Episode 12! We actually recorded this the night before Oestrus and I left for BlizzCon, but due to me being on the road for the two weeks after BlizzCon, I couldn’t get this up until now.

Back in Episode 6, we spoke about guild and raid leading from a more progression-oriented point of view. This time, we wanted a different perspective. If we believe the statistics that Blizzard keeps throwing at us, then less progressive raiding is the majority, yet we rarely hear about it.

We figured we would remedy that.

We sought out Thespius, who for a few years has been one of the leading voices of “more casual” raid leading, notably through his work at World of Matticus (and as his guildie, I knew he was good XD) and talk about the meaning of “casual raiding”, recruiting, keeping raiders interested, dealing with those who use “casual” as an excuse to be unreliable, handling busy real life schedules, and more!
